Copy/Paste: updateCopy/Paste: update

by Davor tagged as

A few weeks ago I discovered that someone copied my homepage design. Today I found the first one that tried to copy my whole website. So it seems appropriate to update my post! Next to Adrianna we now have Danilo. Compare davorvaneijk.com with these shots:

I realize that this blog post might generate our copying friends more hits then they ever had before. And no, don't worry dear slyboots, I won't envy your moment of fame!

No … seriously, it's funny to see people doing this, yet I think it's nice to inform the author that you are recycling a design. I noticed that several people are creating stuff which is at least slightly inspired by my artwork. Some students send me fan art. Off course these people invest a bit more imagination compared to a dull Copy/Paste action. I love that.

Anyway … happy copying!

at least they got creative by changing the font a little. that takes guts!

PS. i wish i'd thought of copy/pasting your homesite before spending the last few months designing my own original site. think of all the hours i wasted.

Seems Danilo also copied your links page… inluding the link to my website. Google Webmaster Tools pointed me to that. Just keep that link up, Danilo!

I just found out that after some discussion by mail (already weeks ago) Danilo Dobrie is still using my design. Shall I make a template for everyone? :-)

New copy from http://www.duoduostudio.com/ , just a hompage.

Usually thieves cover their tracks, at the very least by making some superficial changes, such as adjusting the colors or selecting another typeface, and sometimes in the process even improving upon the original design, but this is an example of a thoughtless and blatant rip-off.

that's brilliantly unfair. if ppl can design their pages they should use their own creativity. if they cant, then they should simply use the templates. if they have the time to copy then im sure they have time to make their own.

What's the point of making your own website if you're just going to blatantly copy someone else's? Use it for inspiration, change the angles, make your own icons.
The type that the copy cats chose are really NASTY too. No thought process at all, no consideration. Rude.

This situation is seen almost everywhere everyday in places like china, as many persons know very little but want to build their own blogs ……

when I first saw your site, I just sat like an idiot….wow! then I saw the "mini you" sites and still yours kept standing out from the crowd. keep on the good work!
look at the good side. they build you brand awareness. even if what they are doing is pure lameness.
